Dr. Russell Brear is Culpeper’s most experienced Cataract Surgeon and only Full Time Ophthalmologist. He and his dedicated staff at Commonwealth Eye Center have been serving Culpeper and the surrounding area for over 33 years.

Established over 30 years ago, we are an independent and privately owned practice offering personalized service to patients and their families. We work only for you. We care for patients we have known for 30 years and want to offer that level of individualized care to all our new patients. Because we are not a large healthcare organization, we can truly cater to your individual needs and quickly make decisions about what is needed for your best eyecare. Our entire staff will go the extra mile to make your experience exceptional.

Mission work to provide eye care for those with no other means has always been very important to Dr. Brear. He has been to over 12 missions trips around the world performing vision saving cataract surgery to people who were blind and had no other means to getting their vision back. Trips have included Guatemala, Mexico, Haiti, and Colombia. He has recently formed a Non Profit Organization called Eye Care for Life to allow others to assist in this great life giving mission work around the world.
