Armin Aalami Harandi, MD, is a fellowship-trained joint replacement and sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement; arthroscopic surgery of knee, shoulder and ankle; knee ligament (ACL) and meniscus injuries; shoulder rotator cuff and labrum injuries; and fracture care.
Dr. Harandi earned his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti Medical University in Tehran, Iran, and completed his residency there. He then came to UVA for his adult reconstruction (hip and knee replacement) fellowship. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he specialized in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgeries, and worked as an assistant team physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After completing his training, Dr. Harandi joined a busy practice in Northern Michigan, where he performed more than 1,200 surgeries in the span of four years. Dr. Harandi joined the Culpeper Division of the UVA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2015.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, biking and skiing.
