Fredericksburg’s Office of Voter Registration and Elections was recognized in two categories during the EAC’s 10th annual awards program, which highlights innovative election practices from jurisdictions across the country. The City received a winning award in the “I Voted” Stickers: Creative and Original “I Voted” Stickers — Small/Medium Jurisdictions category and an Honorable Mention in the Communications: Distinguished Voter Education and Communications Initiatives category. Fredericksburg was one of only five Virginia localities recognized in at least one category this year. Additionally, Fredericksburg was the smallest of the localities to receive these awards.
The award-winning “I Voted” Sticker Contest engaged the community through resident-submitted artwork in three categories: “I Voted,” “First Time Voter,” and “Future Voter.” After finalists were selected by community leaders, residents voted online to choose the winners, resulting in designs that reflect Fredericksburg’s civic pride and identity.
The Honorable Mention recognized the office’s Gnome Early Voting/Candidate Guide series, which uses approachable, easy-to-understand materials to help guide voters and candidates through the election process, including early voting information, polling guidance, campaign rules, and election updates via text alerts.
